Dhemaji: A youth organisation here has sought the reconstruction of Ranganadi embankment at Jainpur in Lakhimpur district of Assam.
The embankment had breached in July after Neepco released water from Ranganadi dam in Arunachal Pradesh.
The group, Brihatar Asomiya Yuva Manch, submitted a memorandum to Assam chief secretary V.K. Pipersenia in Guwahati on Tuesday evening.
The working president of the group, Anupam Saikia, said from Guwahati on Wednesday that 15 villages under Telahi panchayat of the district were living in fear for the past four months.
"If the water level of the Ranganadi increases or if Neepco releases water of the dam, these villages will face the same fate as Jainpur."
"The chief secretary assured us that the breach would be repaired at the earliest," Saikia said.
