Guwahati, Nov. 16: Parikshit Somani and Priyana Kalita of India moved into the second round of the ITF World Ranking Tennis Tournament organised by All Assam Tennis Association at the Chachal complex here today.

Fifth seed Parikshit breezed past Uzbekistan's Adil Karimov 6-3, 6-1 in the boys' under-18 category while eighth seed Priyana beat Yashaswini Panwar (India) 6-1, 6-0. In the boys' under-18 category, top seed Dhruv Sunish defeated Kabir Manrai 6-3, 6-4 while second seed Ishaque Eqbal got the better of Srivatsa Ratakonda 6-0, 6-3.

Third seed Udayan Bhaskar defeated Anshuman Gulia 6-1, 6-0. Sixth seed Shrey Gupta defeated Arghya Das 6-2, 6-7 (6), 6-2, seventh seed Adil Kalyanpur eased past Bijay Kumar Mohanty 6-0, 6-1, while eighth seed Anurag Nenwani defeated Siddharth Basnet 6-2, 7/6(2).

Barring an upset when sixth seed Shivani Amineni lost to Yubarani Banerjee (both India) 6-2, 3-6, 3-6, the rest of the seeds had it easy in the girls' under-18 matches.

Top seed Sabhyata Nihalani defeated Adrija Biswas 6-0, 6-1. Third seed Kaaviya Balasubramanian defeated Lenien Jamir 6-0, 6-0 while fourth seed Anna Solovyeva (Russia) got the better of Himadri Kashyap (India) 6-0, 6-1.

Weightlifting: S. Babina of KIMYC claimed the gold medal in the 63kg youth category of the State-Level Weightlifting Championship, 2015, held at Wangoi in Imphal West. P. Umeshowri Devi of SAI Utlou and Kh. Naobi of ILC settled for the silver and bronze medals.
