Guwahati: The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited Assam Asset has improved and relaxed its norms for hiring light commercial vehicles.

An ONGC release said on Saturday that based on suggestions received from stakeholders, it had made improvements and relaxations in standard bid evaluation criteria (BEC) for tenders floated for hiring light commercial vehicles to facilitate wider participation.

The fresh BEC for Assam Asset says bidders having commercial driving licence need not be owners of the vehicle to participate in the tender, among others improvements.

"The Light Vehicle Contractors' Association has filed a writ petition in Gauhati High Court against ONGC for improvement and relaxation in BEC as compared to the standard BEC of ONGC. The matter is sub-judice and the high court has asked ONGC to receive the bids for the tender. Further action shall be taken after the final order is received from the high court," it said.
