April 23: Officials of Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti, a co-education English medium school in Amingaon, today said its new state-of-the art building would prove to be one of the best places of learning.
Chief minister Tarun Gogoi will inaugurate the building tomorrow in the presence of industrialist B.K. Birla and his wife and educationist Sarala Birla.
R.K. Ganeriwala, secretary of Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti, said the school’s vision was to empower students with the right attitude and skills so that they grow up as positive, happy and self-confident individuals.
Ganeriwala said the school has received tremendous response from students and parents during the past three years. “Considering the response, we decided to construct a new building to create more facilities for students. The building has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 25 crore and structural safety was given the highest emphasis during its construction,” he added.
“More importantly, it is a home away from home where discipline and learning come together. We want the children’s stay in the school to be a pleasure and not a punishment. So, we have been trying to create as many facilities and amenities as possible for them. The new building is one such instance,” he said. The new three-storey building is built on 2 lakh square feet and has a prayer hall, six state-of-the-art laboratories, a computer hub, a swanky canteen, a modern library, a conference hall and an administrative block.
The laboratories, including a specialised one for mathematics, will be used for modern technology-based education. The computer hub will have facilities to enhance and update the students’ knowledge and computer skills. More national and international educational seminars and workshops can be organised in the conference hall.
Saying that no one can make progress alone in this fast-changing world, Ganeriwala added: “The school has decided to hold frequent interactions between its students and the outside world. Leading educational institutions and experts will be invited to deliver lectures and hold seminars and workshops.”
The school was set up near Rajib Gandhi Mini Stadium near the national highway on March 29, 2004. It already has a swimming pool, a yoga centre, a canteen, a basketball court, an art and a music room.
