Shillong, Oct. 20: The North East Students’ Organisation (Neso) in collaboration with the constituent students’ bodies of the region will hold a seminar North East Consultation on Human Rights: Soliciting People’s Opinion on Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 tomorrow.

The different constituent students’ bodies of Neso, including the KSU, NSF, AMSU, AASU, AAPSU, MZP, GSU and TSF will be organising the seminar in their respective states. In Shillong, the KSU will organise the seminar tomorrow at Shillong Club from noon onwards where individuals will express their views on the adverse impact of the act in the region.

The seminar will delve into the atrocities being committed by security forces against the people of the Northeast under the blanket of the act, which had caused misery to the people of the region since its implementation. It will also chalk out strategies to persuade the Centre to revoke the act from the entire region.
