Shillong, Aug. 14: A delegation of the state women’s organisations submitted a memorandum today to chief minister J.D. Rymbai, urging him to ensure the safe release of Sachit Goel and Harsha Goel, who had been abducted 12 days ago.
Rymbai assured the delegation that all necessary steps would be taken and that he would convene a meeting of all senior officials, including the chief secretary, to assess the situation.
So far there has been no development in the case except the arrest of the driver who took the children to school. Clues relating to the case reveal that three persons went missing from the Jhalupara area since August 2 and that one of them did not come home even when his father died, sources said. The driver said that the three persons, who were inside a taxi, forced the children into the vehicle and took them away.
The Border Security Force along the Meghalaya-Bangladesh border has also been alerted.
