Shillong, Aug. 16: The Japan Karate-Do Association of India has selected six karatekas from Meghalaya to represent the country at the Funakoshi Gichin Cup 12th World Karate-Do Championship to be held at Pattaya in Thailand from August 15 to 21.

The selected karatekas are Damang Syngkon, Donboklang Lyngdoh, Sandeep Chanda, Anidahun Mary Warjri, Ester Mary Lyngdoh and Wandashisha Warjri.

The All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association, Shillong, organised a sending-off programme to felicitate the karatekas. Former minister R.G. Lyngdoh, the incumbent working president of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association, was the chief guest.

Members and students of the All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association and parents congratulated the karatekas.
