Imphal, May 5: The All Manipur Football Association has selected 20 players to represent the state in the 63rd National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy 2009, to be held in Tamil Nadu.
Among the 20 players, 12 have been requisitioned from other states, including goalkeeper S. Lokeshore Singh from Assam Rifles.
The four defenders, who have been requisitioned from outside the state are Kh. Jiban Singh from East Bengal, Syed Farid from Air India, Samananda Singh from Sporting Club De Goa and A. Raju Mangang from Churchill Brothers.
The midfielders from outside the state are Khenthang Paite from Churchill Brothers, Bishewor Singh from Sporting Club De Goa, R. Vasum and Chitrasen Singh from Churchill Brothers.
AMFA also recruited three outstation strikers. They are Subhas Singh from Air India, Joychandra Singh from Sporting Club De Goa and M. Bijen Singh from Salgaoncar.
The other eight players, who are from the state include, goalkeeper S. Basant Singh and Y. Surchandra Singh, defenders Benjamin Kamson, S. Thomas Singh and H. Deban Singh, midfielders Sabir Ali and M. Bidyasagar Singh, and striker N. Jimmy Singh.
Ksh. Birbal Sing will wear the mantle of team coach.
