Lakhimpur, Goalpara meet in final

Guwahati, May 20: Lakhimpur District Sports Association Cricket Academy today got the better of Zangam Cricket Coaching Centre, Sivasagar by 18 runs to set up a final clash with Goalpara DSA Cricket Academy in the 1st all-Assam Inter-Coaching Centre/Academy (under-14) cricket tournament at Barsapara cricket stadium on Wednesday.

Put in to bat at Barsapara stadium today, the Lakhimpur boys put up a total of 126 runs for four in 35 overs.

The Sivasagar boys, however, lost wickets at quick intervals and were sent packing for 108 with three balls remaining.

Opener Angajyoti Gogoi topscored for the Lakhimpur side with 47 runs.

Medium pacer Niranjan Gogoi struck late to return with the figures of three for 17.

The Sivasagar boys could never gain a foothold in the match as they lost wickets in quick succession.

It was Niranjan Gogoi, once again, who, coming into bat at number seven, salvaged pride as half the side was down with only 29 runs on the board.

Gogoi topscored for the side with 28.

Earlier, Deepak Chawdhury (18) and Dipankar Baruah (11) made some contribution of note.

Bitu Baruah was the pick of the Lakhimpur bowlers, having scalped three for 33.
