Guwahati, June 4: Kendriya Vidyalaya Maligaon and Kendriya Vidyalaya IIT ensured berths in the semi-finals of the 10th Dhan Sena Sinha All-Assam Inter-School Prize-Money Cricket Tournament at Latasil playground here today.

In the first quarter-final, KV Maligaon got the better of Ulubari HS School by one wicket.

Put in to bat, Ulubari were bowled out for 85 in 19.3 overs. Jayanta Pathak scored 18 runs while Monu Sharma made 14. Abhirup Bhattacharjya and Abhishek Kumar picked up two wickets each.

In reply, the KV batsmen got past the target losing nine wickets in 19.1 overs.

Amit Kumar Yadav topscored for his side with 41 runs while Abhishek Kumar got 11 runs.

Abdul Basid was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets while Chandan Baruah bagged three. Abdul Basid was adjudged the Man of the Match.

In the second quarter-final, KV IIT posted a 41-run victory over Shrimanta Shankar Academy.

Electing to bat, the Kendriya Vidyalaya boys put up a competitive 133 losing eight wickets in their stipulated 20 overs.

Iftarul Hussain scored 38 runs while Kaushik Saikia got 35. Samim Akhter Hazarika and Debashish Saikia picked two wickets each.

In reply, Shankar Academy were bundled out for 92 in 18.3 overs.

Dhritiman Deka scored 21 runs and Tanuz Kalita 17. Man of the match Akash Chetri was the wrecker-in-chief with five wickets while Iftarul Hussain and Samir Sarma bagged two wickets each.
