
Shillong, April 17: A young singer from Meghalaya has qualified for the grand finale of a little known reality multi-talent show, YES I AM.
The singer, Bateithymmai Nongrum, 27, from remote Umthied-Bynther village under Mairang civil subdivision in West Khasi Hills district, reached the final after an scintillating performance before a panel of judges in the show.
The multi-talent online show is one among India's best reality shows, bringing together all forms of talent, from dancing and singing to stand-up comedy on the same platform.
The show was being telecast online to a worldwide audience, and the grand finale is likely to be beamed on a national channel.
Speaking to reporters here today, the young singer urged the people of Meghalaya, the Northeast and the country to vote for her by logging onto the Facebook page Yes I Am.
Narrating her entrance to the reality show and her qualification to the final, Bateithymmai said she first joined the show through online audition last year, followed by mega audition in Mumbai in February.
Bateithymmai is the daughter of Biroda Nongrum and her father Tharsing Syiemlieh is the brother of famous Khasi singer late Skendrowell Syiemlieh.
Bateithymmai is also a music composer and sang Hindi songs in the reality show. She said the date for the grand finale would be conveyed by the organisers soon.
Besides her, two dancers from Sikkim and Nagaland also qualified for the grand finale.
