Innovator Wangchuk to visit Imphal

Imphal: Innovator and educationist Sonam Wangchuk - the real life Phunsukh Wangdu of Aamir Khan-starrer 3 Idiots - will visit Imphal in February.

He will address the youths and entrepreneurs on February 3 as part of a three-day programme, especially designed for the youths of the Northeast.

The event - Imphal Jamboree - is being organised by Global Shapers, Imphal Hub to empower youths of the state.

"Imphal Jamboree is a youth festival with the mission to improve the state of youth by fostering self-employment, sustaining and reinforcing the spirit of community service, develop youth leadership in various socio-economic and cultural sphere," Imphal Hub curator Okram Elizabeth told reporters on Tuesday.

Cultural programmes, new products, seminars, talks and discussions are the main highlights of the programme.

"Vendors from different parts of the country are expected to participate in it," Elizabeth said.

She said the youth organisation felt the need for an intervention to explore and build the future along with the youths of Manipur to find an alternative and to some extent prevent chaos in society.

Chief minister N. Biren Singh will open the three-day event at Trade and Permanent Exhibition Centre in Imphal. The programme is sponsored by the Manipur planning department.

Well-known personalities including Urvashi Sahni, social entrepreneur and educationist and Palin Khundongbam, chairman-cum-managing director of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute, Imphal, will take part in the discussions.

Officials from Niti Aayog and several entrepreneurs from other parts of the country will be attending the programmes.

"The youths and entrepreneurs of Manipur should take full advantage of the programme," Elizabeth said.
