Guwahati, Nov. 7: Gurukul Grammar School got the better of Oakland English School by one wicket in a match of the Mrigen Sarma 11th All-Assam Inter-school Prize-money Cricket Tournament, organised by River Rine Cricket Coaching Centre, at Latasil ground here today.
Put in to bat, Oakland were all out for 123 in 24.2 overs and the Gurukul boys reached 127 for nine in 17.3 overs.
Aryan Sharma, Rahul Kumar and Aftab Khan were the notable scorers for Oakland as Biman Kalita of Gurukul picked up four for 16, Prasidha Kalita claimed three for one and Jitmitra Kashyap two for 31.
For Gurukul, Abhigyan Gogoi remained unbeaten on 76. Aryan Sharma of Oakland hauled six wickets for 32 runs.
Tomorrow, Noonmati Public School will play Little Flower School and Guru Nanak High School clash with Pragjyotish English School in two matches.
Manipur league: Nambul Mapal Cultural Organisation beat United Sporting Association 2-1 in the 11th Manipur State League, 2016, on artificial turf, Khuman Lampak, reports our Imphal correspondent.
Nambul Mapal Cultural Organisation collected 13 points from 11 matches while United Sporting Association have seven. Nambul Mapal got cracking in the added time when Th. Modhumangol Singh fired in the first salvo in the 47th minute for the lead in the first half.But United Sporting Association came back strongly from a penalty in the 51st minute with N. Premjit Singh to level the score 1-1. Th. Modhumangol came up with his second goal in the 85th minute for the victory.
