Guwahati, May 18: Gurukul Grammar Sr Secondary School and Delhi Public School (DPS) registered thumping victories in their respective semi-final league matches of the Nabin Chandra Tamuly inter-school cricket tournament at Nehru Stadium here today.
While Gurukul tamed St John’s English School by ten wickets, DPS handed an 87-run defeat to Pragjyotish English School.
In the first 30-over-a-side match, St John’s, put into bat, were skittled out for a paltry 59 in 25 overs and Gurukul reached the target in 7.4 overs.
Anjan Bezbaruah and Abhijit Sarkar of Gurukul remained unbeaten on 29 and 15 respectively. Prime Amarnath of Gurukul scalped three for five runs and Bezbaruah and Chinmoy Kashyap shared two wickets each. Bezbaruah was named Man of the Match.
In the other match, DPS elected to bat first and posted 180 for six in the stipulated 30 overs. In reply, the Pragjyotish boys were bundled out for 93 in 22.3 overs.
Man of the Match Hrishikesh Tamuly topscored for DPS with an unbeaten 72.
St John’s will meet South Point School and Pragjyotish will clash with Blue Bird Hindi School tomorrow.
