June 6: Students of Kendriya Vidyalaya Khanapara (KVK) plans to observe World Environment Day beyond the date on the calendar.

A day after the school observed environment day with different activities, like planting saplings, the students of the school today carried on their plantation drive.

They will continue the campaign till their school campus goes green.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Khanapara is one of the prominent schools in the city with many of its students engaged in various activities.

This time two visually challenged students of the school cleared the Class XII exams with more than 70 per cent marks.

Yesterday, the school celebrated World Environment Day in the presence of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) deputy commissioner K.J. Subba, the school’s former principal Jayshree Dasbasu and assistant commissioners A.V.L.J. Rao and K.L. Nagaraju.

The students planted saplings of indigenous varieties all over the campus. Students of other schools also participated in the endeavour.

Ina Baruah, former principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya IOC, Noonmati, arrived at the school along with the students and teachers of her school.

“We turned it into a unique event. This is a first not only in the school but also among all the Kendriya Vidyalayas in the city. The students are very enthusiastic about it,” KVK principal Dolly Das said.
