Guwahati: The Assam government on Sunday shuffled eight IPS officers with promotions.

According to a notification issued by the home department, inspector-general of police (home guard and civil defence) R.P. Meena, who is also the in-charge deputy inspector-general of police (DIG) of Eastern Range, has been promoted to the rank of additional director-general of police and posted as ADGP (prosecution).

But Meena will continue to hold the additional charge of deputy inspector-general of police (Eastern Range).

On his repatriation from central deputation in National Investigation Agency, Debajit Hazarika has been promoted to the grade of super time scale-I of IPS in the rank of DIG and posted as deputy inspector-general of police (CID) in place of Raunak Ali Hazarika, who has been transferred and posted as DIG (border).

Anand Prakash Tiwari, who is currently on deputation to state transport department, has been promoted to the grade of super time scale-I of IPS in the rank of DIG.

In-charge (I/C) deputy inspector-general of police of Northern Range Lachit Baruah and I/C DIG (security) Diganta Barah, who also holds the additional charges of I/C DIG (Central-Western Range) and joint commissioner of Guwahati police, have also been promoted to super time scale-I of IPS as DIG.

Nagaon SP Deboraj Upadhyay has been promoted and posted as DIG (training).

Assistant inspector-general of police (administration) Rana Bhuyan has been promoted and posted as DIG (administration).

The personnel department issued a notification appointing Kamrup (metro) deputy commissioner M. Angamuthu the commissioner and secretary of the Guwahati development department, chief executive officer of GMDA and managing director of Guwahati Smart City Ltd. He will continue to hold additional charge of DC Kamrup (metro).

Secretary of health and family welfare department Julie Sonowal has been promoted and posted as commissioner and secretary of health and family welfare department while Purabi Sonowal, secretary of secretariat administration department, has been promoted and posted as commissioner and secretary of state transformation and development department. Lakhimpur DC Barun Bhuyan was promoted and posted as member of Assam Revenue Board with additional charge of Lakhimpur DC.
