Guwahati, March 14: The German government will co-operate with the country in the development of the Northeast.
A three-member team, headed by Woldhard Behrens, counsellor and head of development co-operation at the German embassy, visited the office of NEDFi here recently to assess the possibilities and requirements for the development of the region.
The visit was in response to a request made by the Union ministry of economic affairs during the annual Indo-German negotiations on bilateral development last year.
Andrea Johnston, director KFW, a German development bank, and Gisela Hayfa accompanied Behrens. Chairman and managing director of NEDFi, J.P. Saikia, was present at the meet.
The visiting team took first-hand information on the activities of the NEDFi and discussed the environmental, small manufacturing enterprises, power and healthcare issues of the region.
The German delegation appreciated NEDFi’s work on economic development of the region through various projects.
