Dhubri: The hassle of visiting multiple assistants and seeking both forms and "blessings" of babus is now over for the residents of Gauripur town as the Gauripur Town Committee (GTC) of Dhubri district has become the first in the state to introduce and implement a single window service delivery system for its residents.

Gauripur town is about 10km from Dhubri, the district headquarters.

B. Barua, chief executive officer of the committee, said the residents just need to fill up a uniform application form for all office-related service.

"The uniform application form will also have a slip in which all relevant information like submission date and also the date by which citizens will get their desired service will be mentioned. More importantly, the slip will even mention the cost, notified in the Citizens Charter, so that people will easily know how much they have to pay for the services. Residents should always have a document of proof ready with them," he said.

"We hope this will provide relief and ease of delivery access to all residents of Gauripur, which is the need of the hour," Barua said.

The GTC, comprising four wards, is also the first town committee of Dhubri that has already imposed ban on use and sale of plastic carry bags.

According to the 2011 census, 5,216 families reside in Gauripur city.

The total population of Gauripur is 25,124, of which 12,923 are males and 12,201 are females.
