Dhubri, Nov. 7: The ongoing stalemate in the Dhubri Municipal Board today took a new turn with the BJP threatening to launch a mass agitation.
The party wants the deputy commissioner to convene a meeting within 20 days to take up the no-confidence motion against the civic body?s chairperson, Sumitra Ghose.
Dhubri district BJP president Sushil Chandra Das alleged at the party office here today that the deputy commissioner was delaying the meeting under political pressure. The Dhubri board is controlled by the Congress.
The no-confidence motion was moved against Ghose by nine ward commissioners. Das said the motion was brought against the chairperson for her undemocratic acts.
