Guwahati, March 19: The Assam Football Association, the Guwahati Sports Association and Young Star Football Coaching Centre coach Hem Das have condoled the death of former Mohun Bagan footballer Nabin Das. He passed away at a nursing home here on March 15.

Das, who was 87, was a contemporary of former Olympian Talimeren Ao and joined the Kamrup deputy commissioner’s office after a fracture in his right hand put an end to his sports career.

Das, who also represented the Gauhati Town Club, was one of the founder organisers of the Shantipur Athletic Club. He even coached the Shantipur club’s football team.
