Guwahati, Nov. 5: US bike manufacturer Harley-Davidson today launched its first Northeast dealership at Garalia in Guwahati.

The 7612 square foot showroom, Brahmaputra Harley-Davidson, will provide a wide range of parts and accessories to customise motorcycles, besides selling all the 13 models available in India including the popular Fat Bob and Fat Boy.

"The showroom has been conceptualised to truly reflect the trademark Harley-Davidson lifestyle. With increased accessibility, we hope to open our doors to a whole new set of Harley-Davidson riders. Northeast has a culture of bike riding and the scenic beauty here gives the riders several destinations to reach out to," said Vikram Pawah, managing director of Harley-Davidson India.

The price of the bikes starts from Rs 4.79 lakh and goes as high as Rs 50.41 lakh.

Pawah said Harley-Davidson has 1,200 customers across India, of whom nearly 40 are from Guwahati and 60-70 from the rest of the region.

In order to infuse the bike-riding culture, the brand, which runs the Harley Owners Group or HOG, a group of a bike enthusiasts, will conduct its first HOG run from here on Sunday.

"Harley-Davidson is more than a bike. It is a culture and therefore, we have scheduled the HOG run every Sunday, starting tomorrow. We will also have HOG rides to the farthest locations across the region at least once a month. Any bike enthusiast can join in. Besides, we will educate people regarding biking ethics and how to handle a big bike such as ours," Pawah said.

Established in 1903, Harley-Davidson started its journey in India in August 2009 and appointed its first dealership in July 2010. Besides Guwahati, the brand has 22 other dealerships across the country.
