The international trade fair, the biggest of its kind in the region, has stepped into its 10th year and the organisers are trying to make the new edition the best one so far. The theme for this year’s fair is appropriately “A decade of excellence”.
Organising committee president Jatin Hazarika said the nearly 450 stalls at the ground had been booked by some of the biggest names in business, small-scale industries and local entrepreneurs.
“Almost all sectors, including automobiles, steel, chemicals, textiles, fertiliser, agriculture, food processing, leather, cosmetics and information technology, will be represented at the fair. Last year, nearly 25,000 people visited the fair on working days and we hope the figure will be much higher this year.”
Over Rs 10 crore worth of business had been transacted in the last edition of the fair, recognised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation. Das said there would be a special section for children this year and a show by fashion designer Meghna Rai Medhi. “There will also be a special show on computer software, which we believe will be a good experience for children.”
