Ex-Arunachal CM Riba's statue unveiled

Former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Nabam Tuki today unveiled the statue of former chief minister late Tomo Riba at Ego in West Siang district.

Dhemaji, Feb. 17: Former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Nabam Tuki today unveiled the statue of former chief minister late Tomo Riba at Ego in West Siang district.

Unveiling the statue, Tuki, the Sagalee MLA, said Riba was a true statesman, philanthropist and leader who worked for the development and growth of the state.

The people of Dari circle, family members, friends and well-wishers expressed gratitude to Tuki for renaming the state hospital at Naharlagun after Riba on February 25 last year.

They also expressed gratitude to chief minister Pema Kandu and deputy chief minister Chowna Mein for naming the medical institute at Naharlagun as Tomo Riba Institute of Medical Science on December 7 last year.

The Karko Ao Welfare Association and Basar MLA Gojen Gadi assisted in the installation of the statue.

Golden jubilee

Former legislator Boken Ete today unveiled a statue of Swami Vivekananda at the Ramakrishna Mission School in Aaalo in West Siang district amid blowing of conch shells by students and Vedic chanting by monks. The statue has been erected as part of the golden jubilee celebrations of the school.

Ete said the school has withstood trials and tribulations for the past five decades to impart quality education and advised the monks, teachers and students to contribute their best for its continuous growth as a premier institution.

Swami Purnajnanananda, secretary of the school, monks, teachers and students sang devotional songs in Galo. A section of the alumni was present.
