Shillong, Nov. 11: St Edmund’s College lifted the Inter-College Cricket Tournament for the third consecutive time, defeating St Anthony’s College by 25 runs in the final.

In a keenly contested final played at the Cricket Ground in Polo here, St Edmund’s College won the toss and elected to bat on a flat surface.

However, they lost quick wickets as the bowlers and fielders of St Anthony’s were not letting the batsmen have an easy stay at the wickets.

A late onslaught by Ujjal Sing with 30 runs and Rajdeep Dutta with 29 runs salvaged the team score of 120 for six in 25 overs. Gilbert Syiemlieh took two for 17. St Anthony’s College lost two quick wickets in the run chase. A steady third wicket partnership brought them in sight of victory. However, the spin attack of St Edmund’s slowed down the run flow and the opponents collapsed to 95 all out in 24 overs. Peter Anglican scored 21 runs while Abhay Kr Rai took two for 14 and Vikram Chettri two for 16. The man of the series was awarded to Vishal Warjri of Sohra College and the Man of the Match in the final to Rajdeep Dutta.
