Jan. 25: Gauhati University has organised a drawing competition for schoolchildren on its campus to mark its 57th foundation day tomorrow. There will be a debate and extempore speech contest for the university students.

The foundation day programme will begin with the hoisting of the Tricolour in front of the arts building by vice-chancellor G.N. Talukdar. Teachers, employees and students of the university will attend the programme.

The drawing competition, to be held at Gauhati University Model School, will be organised in four groups on topics like the national flag, view of children?s park, the campus and the university entrance.

The other competitions for university students will be held at newly inaugurated Phanidhar Datta seminar hall.

An inter-hostel and garden cleanliness competition was organised today in which a team of judges visited the hostels in the presence of the wardens. The prize for the best hostel will be presented during the concluding programme of the event at the seminar hall tomorrow.
