Guwahati, Nov. 14: Holders Don Bosco School stormed into the semi-finals of the fifth Sitaram Agarwala inter-school under-16 cricket tournament, organised by Bud Cricket Club, inflicting a nine-wicket defeat on Modern English School in their last group league match at Judges Field here today.
Electing to bat, the Modern School boys were bundled out for 125 in 28 overs. In their chase, the Bosconians lost the only wicket of opener Reshab Barman (4) en route to 129 for one in 16.2 overs.
Damien Sereng topscored for Don Bosco with an unbeaten 64 (11x4, 1x6) and Sushank Bora remained not out on 29 (4x4, 1x6).
Earlier, Nahid Hussain Saikia claimed five for 23 to make short work of the Modern School batting and share the Man of the Match award with teammate Damien Sereng. Reshab Barman and Rohan Dutta also picked up two wickets each for 16 and 30 runs respectively.
Bhaskarananda Boro (23, 4x4), Sayan Dey (18, 3x4), Darsan Das (17) and Bapan Mandal (17) were the notable scorers for Modern School, who will meet Montfort School in tomorrow’s match.
Judo trials
The All Assam Judo Association will organise a selection trial at RG Baruah Sports Complex here on Sunday to select the state contingent for the National Youth and Junior Judo Championship to be held in Shillong from December 7 to 11. Another team will be selected at the same venue on the same day to participate in the Northeast Sports Competitions to be held at Itanagar from December 10 to 13.
