Hailakandi, Feb. 7: Dolu Rising Club annexed the 1st Samayik Prasanga Women?s Football Tournament title, defeating Baulabustee Netaji Club by a goal at the Sporting Union ground in Silchar yesterday.

Subhadra Ghatowar scor-ed the all-important goal in the 25th minute.

Mithila Bhumij and Dayabati Singh, however, missed two easy opportunities to consolidate the lead in the 30th and 52nd minutes respectively.

Rajashree Karmakar was named best player.

The rural women?s meet was organised jointly by Samayik Prasanga and Silchar Football Academy. Altogether eight teams took part in the meet, where seven veteran footballers of south Assam were deployed as spotters. Union minister Sontosh Mohan Dev gave away the prizes.
