Cellphones simply cannot be accepted in schools. But as far as the question of allowing mobiles in colleges, goes that is a different issue all together.
I do not think using cell phones, or wearing trendy clothes for that matter, should be such a big issue.
Rather, I think the real issue is that consciously or unconsciously the authorities are curbing the rights of the students to voice their choices or speak up for themselves. How is a student supposed to face life later on, if he/she is constantly being ordered to follow rules and regulations like a prisoner?
College students have already crossed the threshold of adulthood and must have cast their votes at least once. If the state considers these students smart enough to form democracy, then why should these students be treated like elementary school kids? A college student is smarter and more matured than many people give them credit for.
An institute should focus more on educating students about the importance of being honest and living up to their potentials and instilling strong values in them. The college days are what students are going to look back at as fond memories rather than brood about the incessant rules they had to follow.
And more importantly, should educational institutions not concentrate more on bridging the communication gap between students and their mentors, instead of foisting silly rules on the students?

No, students should not be allowed to use cellphones in schools or colleges premises. The phones often disturb the atmosphere during classes and have even caused disciplinary problems. It can be very distracting for both teachers and students when someone?s mobile starts ringing while classes are going on.
Another reason is that most students use the cellphones as a fashion statement. Most of the time they use it for frivolous activities like gossiping. Moreover, the fancy handsets also create an inferiority complex in students coming from economically backward families.
In order to keep the educational environment free from pollution, the students should not be allowed to use cell phones in school or college campuses.

Worried and well-off parents give their children cellphones to establish contact in an emergency. But then, these children try to make use of their phones in a wrong manner.
For example, the recent shocking incident at an elite public school in Delhi.
It is not as if these incidents do not happen in other schools and college but they are not brought into the limelight. These incidents earn a bad name both for the parents and the school/ college.
Using cellphones has become a fashionable trend for youngsters. And more so when they are studying in posh schools and colleges. Instead of paying attention to their lessons, the youngsters start paying attention to their cellphones. This may cause considerable damage to their careers.
I think parents should avoid giving cellphones to their children especially if they are in schools and colleges.
The authorities should take strict disciplinary action against those who defy the rules.
These students are in an age when they are not matured enough and they may commit unpardonable crimes.
Therefore, this is a plea to the school and college to make sure that cellphone are not used on their premises.

lN the use of cellphones inside schools and colleges should not be allowed, because cellphones are causing more harm than good. The blessing of science has turned into a curse.
Shaken by the recent sex scandal that made headlines across the country, the elite Delhi Public School has banned the use of cellphones on their premises. The authorities have alerted the teachers against the use of cell phones on the premises. They are keeping a strict watch so that nobody can bring cellphones to school.
Other schools in the country would do well to follow the DPS in this regard if they wish to avoid similar ignominy.
And if sex scandals can happen in schools, then why not in colleges? Keeping all this in mind I strongly feel that city schools and colleges should not allow the use of cellphones on their premises.
