Guwahati, March 29: The Congress had released its manifesto last Thursday, but the party's East Gauhati constituency candidate, Bobbeeta Sharma, feels her constituency needs more and released a separate one today.

"The party manifesto is adequate and has covered every issue of Assam, but I, being born and raised a citizen of this constituency first and a candidate second, have some visions for this place. I have put those in my manifesto. I don't know about others, but I believe that every candidate must have a vision for their own constituency. If I am voted as a legislator here, I will definitely try to fulfil those," Bobbeeta told The Telegraph here this afternoon.

Bobbeeta envisages building her constituency and Guwahati as a whole, which includes three other constituencies - Gauhati West, Jalukbari and Dispur - as "a citizen-friendly city".

"In order to turn Guwahati into a citizen-friendly city, I have identified that flash floods are a perennial problem, and we have to take a holistic approach in order to address it. If I am elected, I will focus on keeping drains free from clogging, which leads to waterlogging," she said.

Bobbeeta said the public works department (PWD), Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) and the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) are working on drainage, streetlights and other issues.

"I will try to speed up execution of the projects," she said.

Bobbeeta also stressed on women's security and development, better education for students and tourism.

"Being a woman candidate, I should think about the women of my constituency. So, I will try to launch a helpline and a safety application for women. I will also start a skill development centre for women," Bobbeeta said.

"I will try to initiate several exchange programmes with other developed cities of the nation and abroad for the students here. I am planning to start a town square - a free space in the city - where creative exhibitions and food joints will be opened," she said.

Bobbeeta is contesting against the BJP's former president, Siddhartha Bhattacharya.
