Hailakandi, Dec. 14: Charaideo tallied three points by virtue of a first innings lead from a rain-ravaged drawn two-day match of the Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy senior inter-district cricket tournament against Jorhat at Satindra Mohan Dev Stadium in Silchar yesterday.
Charaideo elected to bat on Saturday and were 305 all out in their first innings. Opener Diptesh Saha scored 167 runs from 172 balls, laced with 26 boundaries and two sixes.
Dayal Krishna Dutta and Anshuman Sarma of Jorhat shared four wickets each, giving away 56 and 76 runs respectively, while Imtiaj Hussain claimed two for 58 runs.
Yesterday Jorhat resumed their first innings at overnight 43 for four wickets and were bundled out for 93 in 36.3 overs. Charaideo's Shuhel Rahman hauled seven wickets for 41 runs off 16.3 overs.
Asked to follow on, Jorhat were 47 for one wicket in 18 overs in their second innings at the end of the match. Mohammed Arif remained not out on 26 runs.
The next match of the group will be held at the same venue on December 18 and 19. Hosts Silchar will play Jorhat.
