T20 CRICKET
Guwahati, April 20: Gauhati Town Club and Bud Cricket Club registered thumping victories in their respective matches of the second Golap Hazarika and Arati Hazarika T-20 Cricket Tournament organised by the City Cricket Club at Judges Field here today.
In the first match, Gauhati Town Club thrashed Maharana Athletic Club by eight wickets. Electing to bat, Maharana batsmen put up 100 runs for seven wickets in the stipulated overs. Aman Chetri topscored for his side with 24 runs while Chujang Lung chipped in with 19. Nayan Deka and Dheemanjyoti Das scalped two wickets each.
Chasing the total, Gauhati Town Club boys eased past the target losing two wickets in 11.2 overs.
Nayan Deka topscored with an unbeaten 41 runs, which included five boundaries and two sixes while Nitin Das contributed 22 runs with four hits to the fence. Darpan Bhuyan and Abhishek Singh took a wicket each.
In the other match, Bud inflicted a 15-run defeat on Baihata Cricket Coaching Centre.
Put in to bat, Bud Cricket Club posted 175 runs for the loss of six wickets in their regular overs.
Samik Das scored 37 runs, which included four hits to the fence and two over the ropes, while Mukut Kalita chipped in with 29 runs with four boundaries.
Munna Ahmed picked up three wickets going for 22 runs in his allotted four overs while Almiruz Zaman scalped one wicket for 23 runs in his quota of overs.
In reply, the Baihata boys could only manage 60 runs before being bundled out in 14.3 overs. Anup Ghosh scalped three wickets going for 13 runs in his 3.3 overs while Rohit Rowniar took two wickets giving away nine runs in his three overs.
