Guwahati, Jan. 8: Bud Cricket Club entered the semi-finals of the 16th Servo Challenge Trophy cricket tournament, organised by River Rine Club, defeating Gauhati Town Club by four wickets in the third quarter-final at Latasil ground today.
Electing to bat first, Gauhati Town Club were restricted to 137 for eight in the stipulated 30 overs. Chasing the modest total, Bud achieved it in 24 overs losing six wickets.
Naba Kalita top scored for Gauhati Town Club with 36 runs and Sumit Ranjan Das contributed a steady 29. Arup Das and Samarjit Neog remained not out on 16 and nine respectively.
Krishna Das of Bud notched up three wickets for 25 runs and Chandan Das chipped in with two for 17.
For Bud, Rajib Kalita topscored with an unbeaten 47 and Simanta Neogi scored 30 runs. Gokul Sharma with 19 runs and Chandan Rawat with nine were the other main scorers for Bud.
Nayajyoti Das of Gauhati Town Club took four wickets for 23 and Arup Das and Nitin Das claimed a wicket each.
Rajib Kalita was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre will play Ankurjyoti Club in the last quarter-final tomorrow.
