Opposition member John Manner Marak (NCP) said as there was an ordinance on banning bandhs promulgated by the governor since February 24, there should not be any urgency to pass the bill.

Independent legislator Manas Chaudhuri said there were some grammatical errors in the bill that needed to be rectified.

However, Lanong said there was no need of delaying the bill, as it was circulated to all the members on the evening of March 23.

After the Speaker disallowed any debate on the matter, the Opposition walked out and the government passed the bill.
