Guwahati, Jan. 3: City Cricket Coaching Centre (A) today inflicted a 99-run defeat on Ankurjyoti Cricket Coaching Centre in a league match of the 15th Guwahati Challenge Trophy cricket tournament at the Latasil ground here.
Batting first, the City Cricket boys piled up 267 for six in the stipulated 30 overs, chasing which the Ankurjyoti boys were bundled out for 168 in 27.4 overs.
Sadek Imran Choudhary topscored for City Cricket with a swashbuckling knock of 82 not out. He blasted the Ankurjyoti bowlers for four huge sixes and eight hits to the ropes facing only 45 deliveries.
Rishav Das also contributed a brilliant 75 off 50 balls. He hammered eight fours and four sixes. Bidur Roy (41 off 27 balls, 4x4, 2x6) and Rana Sarma (27, 1x4, 2x6) were the other notable scorers for City Cricket.
For Ankurjyoti, Shyam Basfore notched up three wickets conceding 47 runs. Surajit Borah, Sahnawaz Ahmed and Apurba Medhi claimed a wicket each.
For Ankurjyoti, Somnath Bhattacharjee topscored with 31 runs, hitting a four and two sixes. Parthajit Baishya (27, 5x4), Darpan Bhuyan (25, 2x4, 1x6) and Tapajyoti Pandit (22, 4x4) were the other notable scorers for Ankurjyoti.
Binod Sinha of City Cricket scalped three wickets for 11 runs while Gokul Sharma, Mridul Bordoloi and Imran Choudhary took two wickets each conceding 23, 26 and 41 runs respectively.
River Rine Cricket Coaching Centre will play Santipur Athletic Club in the first quarterfinal tomorrow.
Tennis ball cricket: Bahniman Sangha, Baihata Chariali, posted a 30-run win over XI Star Club, Guwahati, in the inaugural match of the Brig. Dhirendra Nath Bardoloi invitation prize-money tennis ball cricket tournament at Machkhowa yesterday. In the other matches, City XI Club, Guwahati, beat Tiger Himba Club, Nalbari, by six wickets while Rana Star Club beat Satgaon XI by 47 runs.
