Guwahati: Assam has become the fourth state in the country to issue the Right of Way (RoW) guidelines, which was approved by the cabinet in its meeting on January 28.
This was informed by Assam chief secretary V.K. Pipersenia during a meeting with telecom service providers, tower service providers and other stakeholders on Monday here. The meeting reviewed the current mobile and Internet connectivity status and the methods to improve them in the state.
Telecom operators and industry associations have hailed the passing of RoW guidelines and thanked the efforts taken by the information technology department.
RoW rules are considered a key enabler for expediting the deployment of underground (optical-fibre) and over ground (mobile towers) infrastructure.
