Amar Asom go down by 132 runs

Guwahati, Jan. 4: Janasadharan handed a humiliating 132-run defeat to Amar Asom in today's match of the third T.G. Baruah Trophy Media T20 Cricket Tournament at Judges Field here.

Electing to bat, Janasadharan rode piggyback on a scintillating century by Abuddin Khan to pile up 230 for two. The Amar Asom batsmen were bundled out for 98 in 17.5 overs.

Abuddin remained unbeaten on 107 off 52 balls, hammering 18 hits to the ropes and two over-boundaries. He was adjudged the Man of the Match.

Dinesh Das remained not out on 41 facing 31 balls. He hit three fours and a six. Manabandra Das also chipped in with 25 with the help of five boundaries.

For Amar Asom, Jyoti P. Buragohain (30, 5x4) and Dhiraj Deka (23, 3x4, 1x6) were the main scorers. Prasanta Dutta, Sachin Baruah and Dinesh Das of Janasadharan shared two wickets each giving away six, eight and 10 runs respectively.

In another match of the day, Prag News were awarded a walkover against Assam Sports Journalists' Association.

Under-15 cricket: The Simang Arnold Phulari Invitation (under-15) Inter-District Cricket Tournament will get under way tomorrow at Dibrugarh District Sports Association Stadium in Dibrugarh. The Dibrugarh Cricket Coaching Centre is organising the tournament in memory of budding cricketer Simang Arnold Phulari who died in 2009. Phulari had also led the under-15 Dibrugarh district team.

Hockey: The Sixth Sub-Junior National Girls' Hockey tournament will be held at Nurul Amin Stadium in Nagaon from tomorrow. The final will be played on January 13.
