14-member BPF team to take oath

A 14-member team, led by Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF) president Hagrama Mohilary as chief executive member and Kampa Borgoyary as his deputy, will take oath of office for the council administration in the Bodoland Territorial Council at secretariat field, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar, tomorrow.

Kokrajhar, April 18: A 14-member team, led by Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF) president Hagrama Mohilary as chief executive member and Kampa Borgoyary as his deputy, will take oath of office for the council administration in the Bodoland Territorial Council at secretariat field, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar, tomorrow.

Talking to reporters here today, Mohilary said a 14-member team has been selected for the execution of the council.

The team includes Independent candidate from Goreswar, Maheswar Basumatary, who has extended support to Mohilary's party.

The BPF emerged the single largest party but fell one short of a majority, winning 20 of the 40 seats of the BTC, elections to which were held on April 8.

Five elected members from Udalguri district, which managed to send nine members from 10 seats in the district and three each from Baksa and Kokrajhar, have made the cut in the list.

Besides Mohilary and Kampa Borgoyary, Ansumwi Khunggur Boro, Deben Boro, Ganesh Kachary, Lwmsrao Daimary, Jagadish Sarkar, Bonjar Daimary, Alindra Kumar Moshahary, Shyam Sundi, Mrityunjoy Narzary, Rajib Brahma, Daneswar Goyary,and Maheswar Basumatary will take oath as executive members.

Assam chief secretary Jitesh Khosla will administer the oath in the presence of governor P.B. Acharya at 11am.

Tridip Daimary and Nerswn Boro, both from Udalguri district, have been given the post of Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively.

Mohilary said other than Maheswar Basumatary, two other Independent candidates - Atin Hajong of Manas Serfang and Chakradar Das of Salbari - have extended support to the BPF.

The Sanmilito Jonogosthiyo Oikyo Moncho (SJAM) and Oboro Suraksha Samiti back Hajong and Das.

Mohilary said those who were not allotted executive membership would be given portfolios of departments.

Mohilary said priority would be given to solve the problems of various communities residing in the BTAD.

He said that they would hold review meetings with the Assam and central governments about the implementation of the BTC Accord.

The BTC has 46 members of whom 40 are elected and six nominated.
