Jamshedpur, July 29: Horlicks Wiz Kids-2004, an inter-school cultural and literary event was held at the Micheal John auditorium today.
More than three thousand children from 29 city schools participated in the event organised by the Bangalore-based group “The Activity”.
From the little first-graders to the class XII students, the budding talents tried to put forward their best performance in the six categories of events for different age groups.
The children enjoyed participating in the host of events. From hair styling, mehendi designing to essay writing, sketching, greeting card making and quizzing, there was something for everyone.
However, the show stealer of the event was the fusion-group-dance competition, which was the last event of the day. The choreography was based on a mix of Indian classical music and western beats. Despite the long day, the audience loved it and cheered the performers.
Though the bhangra number presented by the Narbheram Hansraj School team received the maximum rounds of applause, the first spot was bagged by the Carmel Junior College.
The Kerala Samajam Model School bagged the maximum number of prizes to receive the over-all champion trophy for outstanding performance.
The dream team of all-rounders was also selected. Four students, Kaushik Mitra of Kerala Samajam Model School, Ainesh Mukherjee of Loyola, Shreya Bhattacharjee of Loyola and Harshwardhan of Carmel Junior College, were selected for the dream team. They will represent the steel city for the national talent hunt to be organised in Bangalore.
Chief guest of the function deputy commissioner Sunil Kumar Burnwal gave away the prizes to the winners.
Syed Sultan Ahmed, managing director, The Activity, thanked the participants for the success of the event.
