Jamshedpur, July 1: Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, professor took charge of Adityapur-based National Institute of Technology (NIT) as the new institute director this morning.
Debashis Bhattacharya was a senior professor of material science at IIT, Kharagpur. He took over the charge from acting director Akhileshwar Mishra. After taking over the charge Bhattacharya, inspected the various departments — metallurgical, mechanical, electrical, production and computer science. He met the senior faculty of the institute including dean academics and dean administration to take stock of the present state of affairs of the institute.
He said: “My efforts will be directed towards converting the institute into one of the best NITs of the country. Several things have to be done to establish a sound academic atmosphere.” Bhattacharya. NIT board of governors chairman B Muthuraman addressed the faculty at the computer section hall.
