Farmer death

Ranchi: A Lohardaga farmer died on Monday after consuming insecticide but whether he killed himself over his loan burden or met with an accidental death is not clear.

Domna Oraon (50) of Dumartoli village under Kairo thana area had a Kisan Credit Card loan of Rs 45,000, which he was unable to repay. But DC Binod Kumar said the deceased's father told him Doman was mentally disturbed and kept his medicines and insecticide side by side. He could have consumed poison by mistake, the DC claimed.

Mishap kills 2

• Two Patna-based youths were killed and three others injured when the car they were in rammed into a tree near Banhe in Tatijharia block on Hazaribagh-Giridih Road on Monday. The three injured were admitted to Sadar hospital.

Textile bandh

• Wholesale textile traders from across the state will join national outfit Bharat Udyog Vyapar Mandal on a 72-hour bandh from Tuesday against the proposed GST from July 1.

GST seminar

• Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) will host a seminar-cum-Q&A session on GST in Ranchi on Tuesday. FJCCI member Ashwani Rajgharia on Monday said the meet would clear doubts of businessmen on the new tax regime.

Student woes

• Over a 100 students of Kasturba Gandhi Awasiya Balika Vidyalaya in Ichak block in Hazaribagh on Monday staged a protest against substandard food, lack of teachers and a rude warden. District education officials promised to look into the complaints.

• South Chotanagpur Petroleum Dealers' Association met in Ranchi on Monday to discuss heavy losses suffered by dealers after dynamic pricing from June 16.
