Jamshedpur, Dec. 27: The Celluloid Chapter is continuing to dole out quality films as part of its 20th foundation year celebrations.

It celebrated its 20th birthday on August 25 but has decided to extend it to the next year. Today, Japanese film Dreams, one of the finest creations of Akira Kurosawa, was screened at the Centre for Excellence.

Celluloid Chapter general secretary Amitava Ghosh said, ?Movies of this calibre not only encourages viewers to bring about a change in their lives, but also helps them get a taste of the finer aspects of filmmaking.?

Film buffs of the steel city can look forward to pick up some tips on film appreciation at the sessions planned by the Chapter. ?The aim is to make the audience more qualitative. The Chapter has been striving to promote quality cinema and we will continue doing so,? said Ghosh.

Officials of the Celluloid Chapter said they looking forward to educate people on the different aspects of cinema through workshops, courses, sessions and talks from the next year. There is a need for a qualitative audience and members, they added.

The Celluloid Chapter, founded in 1985, has played a major role in bringing meaningful cinema to the city audience. He said the chapter would like to tap younger generation in the coming years. Plans are being chalked out to begin a full-time film appreciation course conducted by renowned film personalities.

The chapter has chalked out a yearlong programme and has decided to dedicate every week as a ?Celluloid Chapter Week?. Every week there will be at least one programme for members.

Pyaasa will be screened on Tuesday, Final Solution, a film directed by Rakesh Sharma, has been slotted for Wednesday. Dancer in the Dark, an award winning film from the Netherlands will be screened on January 8 and Amores Perros (Spain) will be screened on January 12.
