Jamshedpur, Jan. 18: State deputy chief factory inspector today filed a case against Tata Steel for poor upkeep of machinery and lack of preparations to tackle emergencies that left one employee dead and 10 workers injured in an explosion and fire inside the works on November 14.

Arun Kumar Mishra filed the complaint petition against Tata Steel managing director T.V. Narendran (as the occupier) and deputy vice-president, shared services, Suresh Prasad (as the factory manager) in the court of chief judicial magistrate, Jamshedpur, Piyush Kumar, citing violations of the Factories Act 1948 and Jharkhand Factory Rules 1950.
