Woman falls off train
• MUMBAI: A woman fell from a train while trying to fight off a thief on board near Juinagar station in Navi Mumbai on Saturday night, an official said. As the train was leaving Juinagar station the thief barged into the train, robbed the woman of jewellery and tried to alight. The woman, having raised an alarm, attempted to stop the robbery but in the process fell down, the official said. Rituja, 19, suffered injuries and has been hospitalised. PTI

• HYDERABAD: A Hyderabad court allowed two animal rescue organisation to transport to Rajasthan 56 camels that were rescued by police last month. These camels were among 97 camels rescued from a duo who had brought them from Rajasthan for slaughter. PTI
Child put on hot frying pan
• HYDERABAD: A four-year-old girl suffered burn injuries after her mother allegedly made her sit on a hot frying pan here in a bid to "get rid of her", police said. The girl's mother, Lalitha M., and her second husband, Y. Prakash, both aged 25, have been arrested. The girl is the woman's daughter from her first marriage, an officer said. The woman and her husband, both natives of Andhra Pradesh, were working as a cook and watchman, respectively, at a hostel here for the past few months. PTI
CCTV in buses
• NEW DELHI: The Delhi transport department has begun the process of equipping 6,350 DTC and cluster buses with CCTV cameras by seeking to hire a consultant for helping it in executing the project. The consultant will help in identifying a "system integrator" that will be responsible for providing complete hardware, software, maintenance and workforce for the project and implement it for at least five years. Green hookah bars
• NEW DELHI: Restaurants and bars in the city, which permit hookah smoking, have told the National Green Tribunal that they do not support the use of tobacco of any kind within their premises. The panel took exception over non-appearance of 13 restaurants and bars in the city before it despite notices being served to them. The matter will be heard next on December 12. PTI
Van falls in river
• JAIPUR: Two brothers drowned on Sunday when a van fell into a river as it was trying to avoid hitting some bovines on the road in Rajasthan's Banswara district, police said. The van had four passengers who were on their way from Kushalgarh to Andeshwar to a temple. PTI
Train derails
• BHOPAL: Train services were affected for about three hours after the locomotive of the Udaipur-Indore Virbhumi Express derailed near Ujjain on Sunday, officials said. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. PTI

• HYDERABAD: Three armed men, members of a newly formed group that allegedly engaged in extortions, were on Sunday arrested from Telangana's Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, police said. PTI
Man held for IS note at airport
• MUMBAI: An employee of a private agency was arrested on Saturday for allegedly putting up a hand-written note at Mumbai airport's cargo facility threatening a possible attack by the Islamic State, a police officer said. A private security guard found the note in a toilet in the cargo section on November 29 that read "attack the cargo on 26.01.18 or anytime - ISIS". Askhay Gaikar, 24, a security supervisor of a private agency at the airport, has been sent to 14-day judicial custody by a court. PTI
Student 'suicide'
• HYDERABAD: A 20-year-old student of Osmania University allegedly hanged himself on Sunday. The body of E .Murali, a first-year student of MSc Physics, was found hanging in the washroom of a hostel on the campus, a police officer said. A suicide note purportedly written by Murali stated that he did not want to fail in exams and that he had never failed in exams. The police said he seemed to be in depression. PTI

• JAIPUR: A man was arrested from Jaipur railway station by Rajasthan police with counterfeit currency with a face value of Rs 1.90 lakh in Rs 2,000 denomination on Sunday. Rajiv Sheikh, 20, a resident of Bengal's Murshidabad, has been remanded to a day's police custody. PTI

• NEW DELHI: Two persons have been arrested for duping a man of Rs 18,000 after fraudulently obtaining his credit card details over phone, police said. Twenty mobile phones, six fake employee cards of a private bank and 13 SIM cards were seized from Rinku, 24, and Sadhana, 23. PTI

• KANNUR: A boat tragedy was averted in Kerala on Sunday when fishermen rescued 32 passengers after their vessel started drifting towards the mouth of the sea while traversing a river in Kannur after the engine suffered a snag. PTI

• GURDASPUR: Six people were booked for allegedly assaulting a Dalit groom and his family, who were on way to the wedding, in a Punjab village. The assault took place after a group of people raised objections over the blocking of a village road by the family and guests of the groom, an officer said. PTI
