New Delhi, March 29 (Agencies): The government has suspended the agency that put out on social media the personal details filed by cricketer M.S. Dhoni for his Aadhaar biometric database.
Ajay Bhushan Pandey, CEO of the Unique Identification Authority of India, said the village-level entrepreneur or VLE that enrolled Dhoni and his family has been suspended for ten years and an inquiry has been ordered to see if others are involved.
”We have blacklisted the VLE who enrolled M.S. Dhoni for leaking the Aadhaar receipt,” Pandey said.
The agency’s common services centre, using the handle @CSCeGov, had tweeted on Tuesday "ace cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his family get their Aadhaar updated at VLE Mariya Farooqui's CSE at Ranchi, Jharkhand."
Dhoni’s personal details, including mobile phone number, can be seen in the image of the receipt that was attached to the tweet.
The UIDAI’s CEO said action would be taken against all those involved in the leak.
“At UIDAI, we are very strict on the privacy issue. We have ordered further inquiry on the matter and action will be taken against all those involved in the leak,” he told PTI.
He said action will be taken even against those involved in tweeting an image of the receipt through the official Twitter account of the state-run CSC e-Governance Services.
The UIDAI acted after Dhoni's wife Sakshi complained to the Union minister for law and information technology, Ravi Shankar Prasad.
