Washington, Nov. 10 (PTI): Twenty six-year-old Simran Preet Singh Lamba has become the first enlisted Sikh soldier in the US army in more than two decades to complete basic training without shedding his turban and beard.
Lamba was recruited by the army in 2009 for his language skills in Punjabi and Hindi and completed basic training at Fort Jackson and became a US citizen.
New Delhi (PTI): More than 200 BSF and CRPF personnel have committed suicide in the last four years for reasons ranging from depression, marital discord to financial issues, a government report has said.

Rohtak (PTI): Four persons, including a district information and public relations officer, were killed on Wednesday when the jeep they were travelling in collided with a mini-truck on the national highway near here. Traffic was disrupted for half an hour.
Jodhpur (PTI): A MiG-27 crashed near Jodhpur on Wednesday shortly after taking off on a routine sortie, in the eighth such mishap this year. The pilot bailed out safely.
