Who let the dogs out? If shoppers heard loud happy barks at The Atrium in Mani Square recently, it was only because Kashika’s Pampered Paws celebrated its first anniversary with a fashion show. Pooches, poodles, Labs and retrievers — around 40 dogs of all shapes and sizes ‘cat’-walked the ramp — in well-groomed coats and ribbons around the neck. Accompanying them were the proud owners, many regular visitors to the 28B Bakultala Road (on the Kasba connector) pet salon.

“It has been a year for the pet salon, so we thought of a friendly dog show. You might think all these dogs are my clients but no, many pet parents turned up on their own with their pets,” smiled Kashika Arora, a certified groomer-trained at the Delhi-based professional pet-grooming parlour, Pet Bytes and Scoopy Scrub.

Poochie the pug was quite the dude as he hogged the spotlight for two whole minutes and comfortably sat down to pose for the paparazzi!

Chocolate. I love chocolate and that’s why the name,” smiled Priyanka Chowdhury as she tried ‘bribing’ her retriever with a bowl of ice cream to walk down the runway. While four-year-old Chocolate greedily gulped it down, Priyanka added, “He always does the opposite of what we say. But he is the darling of our family.”

Zara was quite the baby as Mayuri Bhattacharya cradled and carried her around to take a look at the stalls that had pets from Labrador to shih-tzu puppies as well as pet products for sale. “Zara is from Manali. We got her when we were staying in Delhi,” said Mayuri, while her other pet Rizu “the protector and bodyguard” inquisitively sniffed at the pen and paper in t2’s hand.
