1 SAY HELLO TO TRAPPIST 1!
We have some new neighbours — seven of them! Astronomers have discovered seven “earth-like” planets about 40 light years away from us. The good news? Three of these planets are located in the habitable zone and are likely to have liquid water! Since they are located outside our solar system, these planets are scientifically known as exoplanets, with this exoplanet system called TRAPPIST-1 named after The Transiting Planets and Planetesimals Small Telescope (TRAPPIST) in Chile. Excited? Then get a load of this video — No. 1 on YouTube this week — from the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where the scientists working on the project talk excitedly about their discovery. Made interesting and viewer-friendly by a series of graphics, the 1:56 video is a must-watch and has already scored 1,572,239 woo-hoos.

2 TRAILER: TRAPPED
As far as engaging trailers go, this one sits right at the top.
Raj Kummar Rao doesn’t let you breathe even for a second in the 2:18 trailer of Udaan man Vikramaditya Motwane’s Trapped. Chronicling the desperation of a man stuck alone in a highrise without food, water and electricity, the trailer is a #win, with Raj Kummar — going quickly from carefree young man to gaunt prisoner — bringing alive the helplessness of a man fighting for survival, even as the world outside seems to have forgotten his existence. Total clicks for the engrossing trailer of the March 17 film: 1,390,556.

3 WHATSUP: PHILLAURI
After the soulful Dum dum, Phillauri funs it up with its second song. Whatsup is a pulsating shaadi song that captures the boisterous atmosphere of a big fat Punjabi wedding. Picturised on Life of Pi actor Suraj Sharma, with Anushka Sharma’s Shashi — a spirit — putting in an appearance, Whatsup has been sung by Mika Singh and current sensation Jasleen Royal. Playing out over 2:21, the song with lyrics like Kisi nu soun ni dena/Ae drama hon ni dena/ Kisi se baat ni karni/ Kisi ka phone ni lena, has 111,563 singalongs.

4 THEY ARE SOOOO BAD!
“8 Famous Actors Who Have Literally Never Been Good In A Movie”. The title of this video says it all. “These actors turn out absolute trash... and yes, they still get work,” says the voiceover to this 5:54 fun watch. The ones that make it to the ‘hall of shame’: Ashton Kutcher (“Just read the reviews to his films and you will know”), Taylor Lautner (“Well, he was in Twilight”), Chris Klein (“He can only play that guy from American Pie”) and Jared Padalecki (“You could put a mop in his place and no one would notice”), among others. Total ha-has: 768,853.

Have you loved and found it tough to let go? White Shirt — a short film written and directed by Sumit Aroraa — is a poignant and, ultimately, eye-opening look at modern marriages... and the need to let go when your relationship has run its course. Starring Kunal Kapoor and Kritika Kamra and running into 18:21, White Shirt shows a young couple deciding to take time out after their marriage has run into some problems. He deliberately leaves behind his favourite white shirt so that he can use it as an excuse later to meet her. Even as he stalls taking it back, she gets attached to the white shirt, even wearing it for days together. Till one day she realises that the unwashed shirt is smelling, and that it’s time to let it go... much like her relationship. A theme that resonates widely and effective acts from the leads make this a must-watch. Add to the 884,952 claps that it’s already notched up.
FINSTAGRAM: THE FAKE REAL LIFE
Have you heard of Finstagram? Chances are, if you’re a teenager you are already doing it. And if you are a parent, you should know about.
What’s Finstagram?
These are “fake” Instagram accounts where users post “true” pictures of their lives — ugly selfies, drunk moments… basically unattractive pictures! According to Urban Dictionary: “Finstagram, finsta for short, is a mixture of Fake & Instagram. People, usually girls, get a second Instagram account along with their real Instagrams, rinstagrams, to post any picture or video they desire. The photos or videos posted are usually funny or embarrassing. Only your closest friends follow this account.”
How is it different from the usual Instagram?
The number of followers is limited and the account is always kept private. Some use these “fake” accounts to stay connected with their “real” friends. Unlike the real thing, here there’s no rule about how many posts you make. So, bring on that stream of ugly pictures!
What’s the average user profile?
According to The New York Times, more than half of the 92 per cent of teenagers aged 13 to 17 who go online daily use Instagram. Finstagramming is popular among teens leading a double life, sometimes trying to hoodwink prying parents. They allow parents access to their public account but the other account is just for pals.
But beware of…
Finsta-snitches. These are friends who one had added to the Finstagram account but now have fallen out with. These “friends” repost private pictures in public forums. This can quickly turn towards cyberbullying. #BeCareful
What about comments?
The comment section is very important to the user. Since the number of users is kept low, comments are taken seriously and followers get to know the actual mood of the account holder.
So, why not simply Snapchat?
In a way, fake Instagram posts are like Snapchats. In the latter, posts disappear and here the number of followers is limited. But Snapchat doesn’t allow permanence. With Finstagram, one can keep a history of funny, friendly things.
The Insta age
With Instagram, we’re spending a major part of our lives going through filtered images of someone else’s lives. “Before, while you were sleeping, you were sleeping,” Leora Trub, an assistant professor of psychology at Pace University and a clinical psychologist who works with adolescents and young adults, has told The New York Times. “Nobody was judging you, and you weren’t waking up to an entire other self that existed in this online space that’s being commented on.” The professor has supervised a study that has found a link between the “number of strangers that Instagram users follow and the possibility that they experience depressive symptoms, such as fearfulness, loneliness or fatigue”.

There will be prizes every hour and the sound of the station will get refreshed. And starting February 28, our station car will be going around the city for 10 days, interacting with fans.
Talking about birthdays, here’s a story that goes back to Direct Dilse. There was a special birthday wish on the show. Special because the woman whose birthday was being celebrated hadn’t met her friends for nearly a decade. One of the friends requested that I connect five of them, who were living in different cities and a couple of them who were living abroad. I did. And it turned out to be a sooooper birthday wish.
Until next week, stay hooked and if you have a story to share buzz 44919919 or WhatsApp @8100919919.
