American actor-producer Vin Diesel has shared a throwback picture with actress Deepika Padukone from his 2017 India visit for the promotions of XXX: Return of Xander Cage, which marked the latter’s Hollywood debut.

Shared on Tuesday on Instagram, the picture shows Deepika sporting a printed dress, while Vin tries to cover her with a beige trench coat. XXX director DJ Caruso can be seen sitting on the front seat of an autorickshaw in the photo which was probably taken in the basement of a building.

“This is a pic of when I went to India as I promised Deepika I would, with the director at the time, DJ Caruso,” the Fast X actor wrote.

XXX: Return of Xander Cage revolves around a former athlete-turned-government operative Xander Cage (Vin) who gets back in action to recover a dangerous weapon called Pandora's Box. To prevent a deadly conspiracy, he teams up with a group of energetic cohorts, including Deepika’s Serena Unger, and embarks on a mission to replace the item to the CIA’s office in New York.

Vin then opened up about how a script sent to him by Caruso recently, centred on a brother and a sister, made his eldest daughter emotional.

“When I think about the amount of directors that have wanted to work with me more than once I am always just humbled,” Vin wrote, adding how his eldest daughter Hania Riley Sinclair cried after reading the script. He also mentioned that Caruso shared the script with him while his team was in the process of figuring out the order of their upcoming productions. “She cried… I asked her why she cried, and she said because the story of a brother and sister rang true for her and it was emotional,” he wrote.

In his post, Vin announced that his upcoming projects — Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em, Mattel’s Barbie sequel, Universal Studios’ Kojak, Witch Hunter, Riddick4 and the finale of his Fast franchise — are currently “fighting for position”.

The actor concluded his note by asking a question to the audience — who would be the right actress to play his sister in his upcoming movie, which would strike a chord with his daughter? “If I could make the film work that my daughter cried reading, my question for you would be, who would play my sister… She suggested Jennifer Lawrence. What do you think?,” he signed off.

Last year, Vin dropped a picture with Deepika on Instagram, calling her one of his “favourite people to work with”. He added, “She brought me to India and I loved it… looking forward to my return. All love, always.”

Vin recently teased the 11th Fast and Furious film as the last film of the action-thriller franchise. The finale, titled Fast 11, is a sequel to last year’s Fast X. Jason Statham, Charlize Theron, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster and Ludacris will reprise their roles in the film. Dwayne Johnson is also set to return to the franchise as Luke Hobbs, a highly-skilled bounty hunter.

Directed by Louis Leterrier, Fast 11 is slated to hit theatres on April 4, 2025.
