Abhishek Bachchan’s Sambhaji Shahaji Bhosale and Riteish Deshmukh’s Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj fight against Sanjay Dutt’s Afzal Khan for ‘swaraj’ in the teaser of the upcoming historical action-drama Raja Shivaji.

Dropped by JioStudios on Tuesday, the two-minute-31-second-long teaser offers a glimpse of the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj through grand visuals and dynamic action. It opens with Sanjay Dutt with a menacing look, aiming to take over the Marathas.

Subsequent scenes show Abhishek Bachchan’s as Sambhaji Shahaji Bhosale, wielding a sword and sporting a fierce look. Riteish Deshmukh's ‘Raja Shivaji’ is also seen establishing Swarajya.

Directed by Riteish Deshmukh, the film also features Vidya Balan, Genelia Deshmukh, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi, Boman Irani and Amol Gupte.

Santosh Sivan has handled the film’s cinematography, while Ajay Ashok Gogavale and Atul Ashok Gogavale have composed music for the film.

Billed as a journey of epic proportions, Raja Shivaji will mark Riteish’s second directorial venture after 2022’s Marathi thriller Ved.

Raja Shivaji is set to hit theatres on May 1 in six languages — Marathi, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
