Producer Ushasie

She already dons many hats. Ushasie is not just an actress, she is also an economics lecturer and will soon pursue a PhD. But before she plunges into the deep end of the academics pool, Ushasie has decided to branch out as the presenter of Motion Moments, a two-day workshop on cinematography to be held in June (13-14) in Jadavpur University. DoP Indranil Mukherjee will show a few camera angles and techniques, with Ushasie sitting in as one of the students! “Basically I have decided to turn producer. I have got the name registered too — Dreaming Ant is the name of my production house. But before that Indranilda (DoP of most Anjan Dutt films and an FTII product) and I have decided to do a workshop. Such workshops are common in Bombay but in Calcutta we have only acting workshops. There are many who work in the corporate sector but are interested in the technicalities of filmmaking. We’ve had enquiries from as far as Bangladesh,” smiled ‘Satyabati’.
